Welcome to the Rotary Club of South Sydney
Over 40 years in the makingSitting amongst one of the largest redevelopment areas in Sydney, Australia is the Rotary Club of South Sydney.
WHEN WERE WE FORMED:
Formed in 1972, we are one of the oldest Clubs in New South Wales. Throughout the years we’ve had the pleasure of being supported by amazing alumni and members in our community.
WHY DO WE EXIST?
We continue our mission and purpose – to connect and support initiatives, ideas, and social projects that create better lives for others.
We believe that no matter what you achieve in business or who you are as an individual, getting involved in sharing your knowledge, wisdom and a little bit of time is the most rewarding part of life.
WHAT DO WE SUPPORT?
Community initiatives that have a social conscience much bigger than its size.
A growing Club members have a deep passion about what we do.
We are part of an enormous network in Australian Rotary Clubs, who in turn are part of an international network of business, professional and community leaders who strive to make the world a better place through practical efforts.
WHO IS AN AVERAGE ROTARIAN?
Rotarians are people like you. Everyday men and women who want to make a difference and help others through community projects, building peace and understanding, serving the greater good and developing friendships and networks that last a lifetime.
Our Mission & Vision
We are committed to making our local and global community a better place to live.
From our backyard to beyond our borders, connecting and improving the world through one idea or project at a time.
Our reach is only limited by the imagination of our members to improve and change the world. Each and every day, through an act of kindness, understanding and giving, we can effect change.
If we each take responsibility for our actions, then the reaction would be a better place for all. Collective intelligence starts with conscious communities and passionate participants.
Rotary provides service to others, promotes integrity, and advances world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.
Our Purpose
To make a difference and to listen and respond to the needs of others.
Rotary members believe that we have a shared responsibility to take action on our world’s most persistent issues. Our 35,000+ clubs work together to:
- Promote peace and harmony within diverse communities

The Four-Way Test
Our Four-Way test is a simple ethical framework to help us in our lives every day. Feel welcome to use it yourself – it’s pretty simple.
Of the things we think, say or do:
- Is it the TRUTH?
- Is it FAIR to all concerned?
- Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
- Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Rotary – At the Centre of Your Community.
We’ve Been Around A While… Over 100 years in fact.
Since 1905, Rotary has been making a positive impact in the world. Beginning in Chicago before spreading throughout the world, Rotary first touched our shores in Australia in1921, with the charter of the Rotary Club of Melbourne, closely followed by the charter of a Sydney Club and other Clubs around the nation.
Since that time Rotary has grown all over Australia, and no matter where you are, you’ll find a Club near you that has contributed to some amazing things.

We would like you to meet our Board and volunteers.

Karen R Levin
President
Life has taught me that intuitive process is most invaluable and is reflected in all we do in life or in business. Being transformational in our strategies and actions means we go past the transactional and improve our bottom line, personally and professionally, as they are eternally connected.
Over 30 years of consulting and coaching individuals from all walks of life, entertainer or entrepreneur, sportsman or sole trader, has shown me that the core of who we and what we do starts from within. What we believe is reflected in our business and personal decisions.

Treasurer
An avid soccer lover, I have over 27 years experience in building, design and construction industries. Starting drafting in my career with a glass manufacturing company I got hands on experience on building sites. I then transitioned in 1988 to working with a medium sized firm of architects and planners. Since 1990’s I have been involved in numerous projects as a builder and designer through my own building and design company. As a licenced builder, assisting clients in project management, design and building their dreams is why I love Rotary. We give people a better life and bring dreams come true. The network is loyal and we all work towards a common goal of the betterment of society.

Cherlene Lee
Animal Therapy Officer
Growing up in Malaysia, was a member of the Interact Club (Junior version of Rotary Club) back in high school. I am a small animal veterinarian since 2008 and started my own vet hospital, My Vet Animal Hospital in Waterloo, Sydney. Since starting my own business in 2014, giving back to the community is very important and it is one of our core values as a company. I joined Rotary in 2014 and have since been involved in many pet related projects.
My passion is pet education and also helping the community build a better relationship with pets. Working with Rotary has been exceptional because not only do they support every idea and projects that you believe in, they have now become a part of my family!
